Shake it up!

Freakshakes aren’t your regular milkshake? they’re amped up with extra treats to make them decadent and over-the-top. These healthy versions by our food editor Chloe Moir are delicious and far better for you than their crazy cousins.

Crazy chocolate heaven

For the banana ice cream:

  • 1 banana (chopped and frozen)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

For the chocolate ice cream:

  • 2 bananas (chopped and frozen)
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder, 100% cocoa powder, or carob powder
  • 2 dates

For the chocolate sauce:

  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp cacao powder, 100% cocoa powder or carob powder
  • 1/2 tsp honey

For the banana ice cream:

  • 2 bananas (chopped and frozen)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 dates For the peanut butter sauce:
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • tbsp coconut oil
  • tsp honey To freakshake it up:
  • Dried banana chips dipped in the chocolate sauce and set in the freezer
  • 1 tbsp sliced almonds
  1. Add 1 banana and 1 tbsp peanut butter to a food processor and blend until smooth. Add water or milk if necessary to reach desired consistency. Scoop into mason jar or tall glass.
  2. Add 2 bananas, 1 tbsp cacao powder, and dates to a food processor and blend until smooth. Add wateror milk if necessary to reach desired consistency. Scoop into mason jar or tall glass over banana ice cream.
  3. Mix peanut butter, coconut oil, 1 tbsp cacao powder, and honey together until smooth. Spoon over ice cream.> Freakshake it up with banana chips and almonds and serve.

PEANUT BUTTER BLAST OFF

For the banana ice cream:

  • 2 bananas (chopped and frozen)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 dates

For the peanut butter sauce:

  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • tbsp coconut oil
  • tsp honey

To freakshake it up:

  • cup popcorn
  • 5-7 pecans
  • 1 tbsp of peanut butter for the sides of the jar
  1. Add the bananas, 1 tbsp peanut butter, and dates to a food processor and blend until smooth. Add water or
    milk if necessary to reach desired consistency.
  2. Mix together 1 tbsp peanut butter, coconut oil, and honey until smooth.
  3. Scoop ice cream into a mason jar or tall glass and spoon over sauce. Freakshake it up with popcorn, pecans, and peanut butter. Serve.

BANANA BERRY BLISS

For the banana ice cream:

  • 1 banana (chopped and frozen)
  • tsp vanilla powder (or vaniljpulver)

For the berry ice cream:

  • 1 bananas (chopped and frozen)
  • cup frozen berries

For the berry sauce:

  • cup frozen berries (leave to defrost for 20 minutes or until soft)

To freakshake it up:

  • 2 tbsp frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp toasted coconut
  • 1 tbsp goji berries
  1. Add 1 bananas and cup frozen berries to a food processor and blend until smooth. Add water or milk if necessary to reach desired consistency. Scoop into mason jar or tall glass over banana ice cream.
  2. Blend cup frozen berries in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. Drizzle over ice cream.
  3. Freakshake it up with frozen blueberries, coconut, and goji berries. Serve.
