Eat your spinach

Nutritionist Chloe Moir shares a recipe for a delicious spinach, kiwi and banana smoothie.

Spinach, kiwi and banana smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond milk (or other favourite milk)
  • 1 banana, sliced and frozen
  • 1 kiwi fruit, flesh only
  • 1 cup loosely packed fresh spinach

Top tip: spinach is a great vegetable to add to recipes for kids as it has a mild taste, which means you can easily hide it!

Method

1. Place all ingredients into blender and blend on high for 1 minute or until all the ingredients are combined and smooth. Serve immediately.

Note: You can swap the kiwifruit for any other fruit. Other yummy options include pineapple, pear, apple, or orange. If you think the smoothie needs a little extra sweetness, add 1⁄2 tsp of honey.

Top tip: spinach is packed full of so many micronutrients that are important for kids. It contains Vitamin K and Vitamin C both which play in important role in immune health and will help to build up tolerance to many sicknesses and parasites. Spinach also contains calcium, which is important for growing bones.
