Homemade sports drink

Store bought sports drinks are expensive, and yet so cheap and easy to make at home. Yours will be colour-free and packed in your favourite drink bottle (that doesn’t add to landfill!).

Simply mix together:

  • 1/4 cup sugar (or your preferred alternative,  such as honey or rice malt syrup)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup of fresh orange juice (or alternative preferred juice, such as pineapple, apple or mango)

Makes 1 litre.

Remember, sports drinks should be viewed as a tool to rehydrate and refuel kids playing active sport or in tournaments, and not as an every day drink option.
