Kid-friendly fun on the Shore

location for kid-friendly fun on the north shore

We’ve found six stellar ways to have fun on the north shore!

1. Bounce yourself happy

Got a spring in your step? Kids can bound around everywhere at Jump. Coordination and fitness are not required here, just a sense of adventure. There’s a dodge ball court, foam pit and, of course, trampolines galore. The only thing that’s required of you is to wear a pair of Jump socks ($2 each and you get to keep them for next time). If you jump on a Tuesday, it’s only $10.

2. Get inspired

Even if your kids are not an artsy-fartsy bunch, they’ll love Paint the Earth. Decorate your own plate with stencils, printable designs, drawings, colours, or even your hand print. There’s no need to worry about damaging the handmade ceramics, they are dishwasher and kid-friendly. So get stuck in and have a bit of creative fun.

3. New on the block

There are two words that have been used a lot lately among mums on the North Shore in Auckland: “Party” and “Kingdom”. If you haven’t heard of this place before, it’s situated on Karepiro Drive, Stanmore Bay, Whangaparaoa. It’s the newest playground to take your young ones to climb, run, slide, and jump about in a safe environment, under the watchful eyes of parents while they savour the renowned coffee which is so good it’s worth going for alone! Check it out here.

 4. Let the games begin!

Suit up and get ready to fight at Laserforce. This space station-themed venue feels straight out of Star Wars; from the guns and gadgets to the vests! The object of the game is to go around zapping the other team, clocking up points, so it’s perfect for those little adrenaline junkies. Laserforce is full of lots of laughs and teamwork too, you don’t have to be a space nerd to join in.

5. Glow in the dark fun

This wouldn’t be a complete list without mentioning mini golf. This classic outing has been revamped by Gloputt Mini Golf. The whole course glows in technicolour – all the pathways, fairways, byways… In fact, this extensive mini golf course sports 16 holes. And the best of all, Auckland’s weird weather can’t hold you back, as Glowputt is all indoors.

6. A chill, kiwi classic

If taking it slow is more your style, we’ve found a location as easy as Sunday morning. Long Bay Regional Park is a classic go-to for Shore dwellers. If you’ve only scheduled in an hour or two, you’re bound to spend the whole day. There’s oodles of space to roam around, a crazy cool playground, barbeques and, of course, the beach. It’s called ‘the Shore’ for a reason; we truly have the most beautiful beaches in our backyard.
