7 easy sewing crafts for kids

The following crafts will give your kids an idea of what they can easily make from a sewing activity. These are seven carefully selected crafts that almost every kid can make with the right tools and guidance.

1.    Chicken Puppet Doll

This chicken doll is a great craft for little children to practise sewing with. It’s nice to play with at Easter or for farm-themed playtime!

2.    Pillow

Sewing a pillow is a very interesting craft because you have the freedom to decorate it as you wish. And even if the pillow your child makes is too small for use, a doll or stuffed toy can always make good use of it.

3.    Finger Puppet

If you really want your kids to get crafty, making finger puppets is a great idea. The advantage of this particular craft is that it allows you to make the puppet of anything, whether it’s animals or human beings, and crafting them does not require too many materials.

4.    Handmade Felt Ice-Cream

Crafting ice-cream from felt is far less messy than the real thing! It can be made in any colours your child wishes, although we recommend avoiding black, as this can make it look more like a microphone than an ice-cream (unless your child wants a microphone, of course).

5.    Jellyfish from Fabric Scraps

If you have fabric scraps, they don’t need to go to waste – have your child use them to practise sewing or create cool scrappy creatures like a jellyfish.

6.    Anchor Key Chain

A felt shape like an anchor makes for a fun addition to a key chain or phone charm. You could also try a simple heart shape, cat, or strawberry. Your child can personalise this craft by putting their name on it, or the name of their favourite cartoon, and make it special that way.

7.    Purse

One thing children love is their own personal purses. They keep all their little trinkets and jewellery in them and feel like grown-ups.

(b) Felt Case

This felt case is the perfect size for a mobile phone. Even if your child doesn’t have their own mobile, they like to have a place to store their treasures or their toy mobile!
