7 wonderful reasons to take your kids to Samoa

It’s a secret little paradise that won’t disappoint. We promise.

Crystal clear waterholes, lagoons, surfing, coconut drinks on the beach, and seafood feasts definitely make for a happy family when it’s time for a little quality holiday time. Here are seven reasons Samoa is the perfect place for a family holiday.

1. It’s easy on the pocket

Samoa is great value for money. We could eat delicious food, enjoy mocktails and cocktails, go on adventures, stay in a top resort, and trek around the island, all within a reasonable budget.

 2. Oh, the sea!

The swimming is epic on both Upolu and Savai’i. It’s safe to paddle in the lagoon without worrying about dangerous ocean waves and currents.

 3. Waterhole adventures

Older kids will love the To Sua Ocean Trench, where the brave can scramble down a wooden ladder to bob about in the emerald green lagoon in the middle of a lava field. There‘s also the Piula Cave Pool, where fresh mountain water cascades underground to form a little pool in a cave draped in greenery.

4. Waterfalls everywhere!

Make sure to visit Papase’ea Sliding Rocks and slip down the natural slides formed over three waterfalls. Locals open up their land so you can wander through and enjoy their spectacular backyard waterfalls too.

5. The shining sun

Samoa has a dream climate, with temperatures around 23˚ to 28˚C from May to November.

6. Seafood feasts

We are a seafood-loving family, so we were thrilled when our budget easily allowed us to feast on massive platters of lobster, bugs, prawns, scallops, and fish. Simple fare, but such a treat, and for under $30.

7. It’s so friendly

You’ll love the people of Samoa, who are genuinely lovely and always smiling. It’s the perfect vibe to shift everyone into holiday mode. You may even spot a few familiar (rugby-playing) faces!

Where we stayed in Samoa

We stayed at Taumeasina Resort on Upolu, a beautiful five-star resort 45 minutes from the airport. It’s right on the beach, with great food, multiple pools, daily activities, and special areas for little ones. In true Pacific style, the music was wonderful, with Samoan cultural performances as well as well as local artists to entertain over pre-dinner drinks. Kids are doted on too. We loved the comfortable rooms and warm vibe. It was a lovely place for a family holiday. Visit taumeasinaislandresortsamoa.com to find out more.
