Put the “art” in “party” with  an art-themed birthday bash  for your budding Picasso! With Misha Perritt

My son Max loves everything and anything to do with art,” explains mum of four and party stylist Misha Perritt. “I decided to add a Picasso twist, because what’s more fun than abstract art?” Upon arriving, each party guest received an artist’s apron, which Misha personalised using iron-on printer paper. Their first activity was to create “Picasso Pizza”, decorating individual pizza bases with a selection of toppings.

Other activities included making Picasso faces from art clay, and drawing portraits using pastels on black construction paper. “The dessert table was an explosion of colour,” Misha explains. The hanging tissue balls and paper lanterns were colourful and creative, while the backdrop was a simple black tablecloth. She finished off the table décor with a tissue tassel and pendant banner. The desserts were fairly simple – cupcakes, chocolate-dipped marshmallows, and rice bubble slice dipped in chocolate and sprinkles, with popsicle sticks to make them look like edible paint brushes. Drink bottles were labelled “creative juice” – just what the kids needed to get creating. “The party was a blast to design and execute, and Max and his friends had so much fun creating fabulous art,” Misha says.
